Right, so, Metalocalypse. Season 2 got underway while I wasn’t paying attention, so I held off on the DVDs, then they just sat on the shelf. I did catch a few episodes as they aired, but I never got around to watching them (along with a lot of other stuff, hence starting this series). This is easily among my 5 favorite Adult Swim original shows, so let’s just say I feel pretty dumb for not getting around to it until now. On with the show…

While there’s no real plot running from episode to episode, they continue to work things in incidentally, like the phones and the franken-chef. They also seem to be a little more active in building something in the background, between the cabal trying to keep Dethklok from taking over the world and the super freaky outsider trying to break into Dethklok’s home/fortress, its like there’s a real story coming into play (though it was more prominent in the first half of the disc). Animation seems to have improved a little, mostly in the detail present, the humor’s just as good as ever, and the soundtrack? Well, that’s just as metal as ever, I’d gladly go to another concert with the new stuff I’ve heard so far. Highlight of the disc? Murderface teaching Nathan and Pickles about how to be dicks. Looking forward to watching the rest of the season play out tomorrow.
