Mr. Masamichi Fujisawa:


Mr. Fujisawa is a history teacher at the honorable Shininome High School that takes his duties quite seriously, and whose students include Makoto, Nanami, and Jinnai. He's an avid mountain climber, always looking for a mountain offering the ultimate climb. He is also an alcoholic chain-smoker, which is an understatement really. Keeping a flask and a pack of smokes on him at all times, with more of each in his desk, you won't find him far from the sauce often.

Upon arriving in El Hazard, in the company of Makoto, he finds that he's out of alcohol and very intent on getting back to the school since he was on night watch. Shortly they hear the scream of Princess Rune Venus, and come to her rescue, where they discover that Mr. Fujisawa has gained super powers and soundly defeats the Bugroms assailing her.

There's a catch to his power though, it only works when he's sober("...oh cruel fate..."). With these newfound powers, and self-patented moves, like Fujisawa's Fist of Justice, he becomes a regular super hero, provided, of course, that he's not drunk. Later he also discovers that he's even more powerful when he doesn't have any nicotine(though he had wished to get home before he ran out).

When Fujisawa and Makoto reach the Hot Springs of Arliman, they hear a woman's scream and Fujisawa leaps into action, charging to the scene and incapacitating(not to mention removing from the scene) her assailant. The woman turns out to be one of the three Priestesses of Mt. Muldoon, the Great Priestess of Water, Miz Mishtal, who instantly falls in love with him upon finding he's a government employee. Fujisawa also reciprocates the feeling and in OAV2 they get married, but that's a whole 'nother story.
