Spoiler-free Introduction to El Hazard:

When Makoto finds some ruins under his high school after an earthquake, he finds himself drawn to them one evening where a mysterious and beautiful woman transports him(along with his sensei Mr. Fujisawa, his rival Katsuhiko Jinnai, and Jinnai's sister Nanami.) to the Magnificent World of El-Hazard.

Once they arrive, they are thrust into the midst of the ancient prophecies of the land, when all they really want to do is get back home(ok, most of them want to get back). Upon arriving in El-Hazard, each of our characters have gained some special ability(which I won't divulge here), though they may not manifest immediately.

The series shares some similariteies with Tenchi Muyo, as they were both created by the same group, but differs primarily with a distinctly Arabian feel to it. It even has some minor variations on tales from Arabian Nights hidden within the series. The hero suffers from Tenchi-syndrome and the storytelling/humor is about on the same level, but, in my opinion, better written and more amusing... The animation in this series is definitely top-notch, you won't find much drawn better than this here OAV series. And finally, for those of you that think Tenchi Muyo is the best thing since sliced bread, this is better, so there =P

And so begins the journey to El-Hazard. If this has piqued your interest, get spoiled, or go get this Magnificent series and be amazed without having me ruin it for you(just be sure to come back here later).
